Newcomers
Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church Welcomes All.
Searching for a faith and spiritual direction is a deeply personal journey. Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church welcomes newcomers and faith explorers from all backgrounds regardless of Race, Creed, Color or Nationality.
- As Baptists, we are followers of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves and respect the dignity of every person.
- We believe in amendment of life, the forgiveness of sin, and life everlasting. Lay people exercise a vital role in the governance and ministry of our Church.
- Holy Communion may be received by all baptized Christians, not only members of the Church. Communion is served on the First Sunday of each month.
- We affirm that issues such as birth control are matters of personal informed conscience.
- We celebrate our unity in Christ while honoring our differences, always putting the work of love before uniformity of opinion.
- All are welcome to find a spiritual home in the Baptist Church.
Rights and Privileges of Membership
When one joins the congregation of believers at Mt. OLIVE MBC there are certain expectations that are attendant to the membership of the organization.
There is the expectation that each member will contribute financially to the church. Those contributions are called a Tithe (10 percent of your earnings) as Abraham gave to the High Priest Melchesedec in the old testament. The Tithe is used to pay for the Operational expenses of the church such as heat, lights, salaries and other general maintenance.
And Offerings are also an expectation (there is no set percentage of earnings) Some offerings are ongoing such as Benevolent and Building Fund. Others are special occasion offerings such as Anniversaries for Church, Pastor or other Auxiliaries. Sometimes a set amount is requested. Other times a Freewill or no limits offering is called for.
Membership Rights include (but are not limited to) use of church facility for Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms, Counseling etc. for reduced or no fee. Service on an auxiliary board such as Ushers or Sick committee Privileges include (but are not limited to) the right to an elected office holder for an auxiliary. Be considered to serve as Deacon, Missionary, Trustee, Altar Guild or Minister. Training is required and provided at reduce or no cost where appropriate.
Deacons and Ministers receive training from Pastor and Chairman Deacon from manuals and material we use. There is schooling a candidate can opt for at their own expense. The membership of the church must approve by majority vote any Licensing or Ordination of any member of the Clergy or Deacon. The Qualifications for either office is found in Timothy 3:1-13. Each person considered is examined with understanding of their own circumstances.
